Experience with AMS 700 LGX Penile Prostheses for Preserving Penile Length in Korea
– Kim et al.
A study was conducted to report the outcomes of patients who underwent penile implantation with the AMS 700 LGX in a single center by a single surgeon.
Over 18 months, 342 patients with ED underwent AMS 700 LGX implantation. The study found that they were able to regain or maintain lost penile length at 3, 6, and 12 months. The men also reported no complications nor S-deformities. Overall, function and patient satisfaction improved significantly with the LGX.
Comparative Assessment of Antimicrobial Activities of Antibiotic-Treated Penile Prostheses
– Otero et al.
A 248 patient study, to assess patient and partner satisfaction after the first implant, found that more patients were satisfied with the AMS 700 CX than the competitor’s IPP. Partner’s satisfaction was also high overall.
Comparative Assessment of Antimicrobial Activities of Antibiotic-Treated Penile Prostheses
– Mansouri
In a head-to-head study that compared the spectrum and durability, both in vitro and in vivo, of two antibiotic-treated penile prostheses, InhibiZoneTM-impregnated devices maintained antibiotic activity over 14 days compared to a rapid drop with vancomycin-dipped devices.
InhibiZoneTM-treated devices displayed a broader spectrum of antimicrobial activity than Coloplast van-dipped implants against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. They also produced the largest and longest duration of zone of inhibition (ZOI) against MRSA (staph aureus).
Comparison between AMS 700™ CX and Coloplast™ Titan Inflatable Penile Prosthesis for Peyronie's Disease Treatment and Remodeling: Clinical Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction
– Chung
In a study to evaluate the clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction in men with Peyronie's disease (PD) and ED, a total of 138 patients with an average age of 57.7 underwent AMS 700 CX (88 patients) and Coloplast™ Titan (50 patients) IPP implantation during a 5-year period.
The study found that procedures with both IPPs resulted in similar straightening without the need for revision surgery; Boston Scientific’s device trended towards higher durability.
There was no statistically significant difference in patient satisfaction or usage between devices.
Long-Term Infection Rates in Diabetic Patients Implanted with Antibiotic-Impregnated Versus Nonimpregnated Inflatable Penile Prostheses: 7-Year Outcomes
– Mulcahy, Carson
In a 7-year study of long-term infection-related revision rates in diabetic patients implanted with antibiotic-impregnated versus nonimpregnated inflatable penile prostheses, the AMS 700 InhibiZoneTM-impregnated penile implants have shown to reduce initial revisions due to infection by 65%.
After seven years, the rate of infection-related revisions was significantly lower for minocycline and rifampin-impregnated (1.62%) than for nonimpregnated implants (4.24%).
AMS Three–Piece Inflatable Implants for Erectile Dysfunction: A Long–Term Multi–Institutional Study in 200 Consecutive Patients
– Montorsi
200 consecutive patients with erectile dysfunction who underwent surgery in five different institutions were followed in a long-term study to assess the mechanical reliability of Boston Scientific’s three–piece inflatable implants and their impact on patient–partner satisfaction.
92% of patients and 96% of their partners reported intercourse to be excellent or satisfactory.
