Updated reimbursement for EKOS procedures

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the fiscal year 2024 Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) final rates and policies. Effective October 1, 2023, EKOS Medical Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS-DRG) are reassigned to a new category, "Ultrasound Accelerated." The DRG assignment for pulmonary embolism treatment saw a weighted increase of 9%. Reimbursement for EKOS peripheral vascular (including DVT treatment) DRG assignments increased by 36% and 22%.
