Initiatives aimed at fostering a new generation of urologists/urology health care professionals

To address health care inequities for patients, the field must also address the shortage of urology health care professionals. Explore fellowships and mentorship programs that provide funding and support while working in collaboration with leading urology programs throughout the U.S.

Boston Scientific Medical Student Innovation Fellowship

Established an endowment in collaboration with the AUA's Urology Care Foundation, which funds an annual fellowship for medical students from an underrepresented group to conduct urology-related research under the guidance of a mentor.

American Urology Association FUTURE (Future Urology Talent from Under-Represented Entities) in Urology Mentorship Program

Sponsors a mentoring program for pre-clinical and third-year underrepresented in medicine (URiM) students

Urology for Social Responsibility

Sponsored a 2024 event at the University of California San Diego that discussed approaches to being effective leaders for social change through dialogue, advocacy, and activism

Urology Unbound

Sponsored mentorship programs and partnerships to identify diverse candidates for clinical trials and R&D projects

R. Frank Jones Urological Society (RFJUS)

  • Sponsors a prostate screening program and a clinical trial registry
  • Supports Consortium or Disparities of Urologic Conditions (ConDUC) with a restricted grant

American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS)

Partnered with the society to sponsor a partnership to educate urogynecologists on the latest advancements in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery

Sexual Medicine Society of North America

Partnered with the society to collect data on health disparities
