SpyDS Highlight
Korean Endo team successfully closed 3 SpyDS deals (Capital rental +Scopes purchase) in WonKwang, WonJu and SCHH hospitals respectively, on 1 Dec. Since SpyDS Launched on this Feb, the team has been working on promoting SpyDS and trying to overcome the unfavorable reimbursement situation. These three deals were the great start of SpyDS business and we expect the bright future ahead.
Korean team is also working on the SpyDS PR campaign to promote this new technology and hopefully to influence government’s reimbursement policy. In Nov, there were 3 Korean media covered SpyDS introduction featuring Dr. Moon in SCHH hospital.
Medical Research Agreement (MRA) with Severance Hospital
Boston Scientific Korea signed Master Research Agreement with Severance Hospital of the Yonsei University Health System (YUHS) to work together for research in the field of gastrointestinal therapeutic endoscopy. The signing ceremony was held on 10 Nov at YUHS and the ceremony was attended by Michael P. Phalen, executive vice president, Boston Scientific; Art Butcher, senior vice president, Boston Scientific; Min Hang Heo, area general manager for Korea, Taiwan and HK, Boston Scientific Korea; Si-Young Song, dean of Yonsei University College of Medicine; and Seung-Min Bang, deputy director of Research Promotion, Yonsei University Medical Research Center.
Dealer engagement and education
In Korea, 6 dealers cover 47% of the total business with the growth rate 50% vs. PY. In September, Korean team initiated an annual meeting with dealers to understand their need, and also, with the support from Drew James and Adam Rodriguez, we conducted a week of ISS training in Singapore for 7 sales reps from dealers to equip them with comprehensive product knowledge. We are currently in the hiring process of a new sales rep who will be dispatch to the South-West Area to strengthen the dealer business there.
New Distributors Training
Starting from June, Korean Endo terminated the distribution agreement with EndoVison after detecting their unfaithful behavior and recruited new distributor partners Dongsan, together with SNB and Jaekyung, to cover Deagu, Ulsan and Busan area.
On 6/13-6/17, we conducted a sales training for distributors to equip them with the clinical knowledge of the GI and EUS product. The sales and marketing support to our distributor will help BSK Endo to explore the big market opportunity in provincial area.
Upper GI MAB (Medical Advisory Board Meeting)
Korean Endo team hosted first ever MAB for Upper GI on 14th June in BSK office.
Leaded by Prof. Jung, Hwoon-yong in AMC, there were 6 KOLs from 5 different hospitals became the board members of BSK upper GI MAB. Considering the low brand awareness and market penetration in the Core GI market, this first MAB was an important ice braking with those influential professors in the Upper GI field.
During MAB meeting, Korean Endo team introduced BSC company overview, the product portfolio and the vale of the BSC core GI product and we received positive feedback from those KOLs.
SITEC (Severance International Therapeutic Endoscopy Course)
Korean Endo team hosted the first SITEC training on 22nd and 23th April at Severance hospital to promote BSC proprietary RX system and to enhance BSC relationships with KOLs in NEA
10 Physicians from China, Hong Kong and Singapore attended the course to learn the latest Endoscopic techniques such as ESD, POEM, EUS and RX in ERCP. There were a lot of great experience sharing and in-depth discussion during these two days. In the RX hand-on station, some of the physicians said it’s easier than they were expected and they may consider switching to RX in the future. Overall, the feedbacks were fantastic and participants were especially impressed by the high quality of the hand-on course. Severance hospital Endo team was also very satisfied with the event and expressed their deep appreciation to BSC’s effort.
Spyglass DS Case 시연
지난 2월 20일, 한양대병원에서 진행된 ERCP-EUS 2016 Live에서 국내 최초로 삼성서울병원의 Live Case를 통해 보스톤사이언티픽의 ‘Spyglass DS’가 소개되었습니다. 혁신적인 제품의 등장으로 참석자들의 많은 관심을 끌었고, 이를 시작으로 Global Study의 일환으로 부천순천향병원, 서울아산병원에서도 Spyglass DS를 이용한 시술이 있었습니다.
특히 29일에 있었던 기존 Spyglass Legacy의 User인 전남대 박창환 교수님의 Case에서는 기존 시술방식을 통해 발견되지 않았던 질병을 새로 발견하게 되어 환자에게 큰 도움이 될 수 있었습니다.
“Spyglass DS를 통해 이런 질병을 찾아낸 것만으로도 엄청난 수확이다” 라는 교수님의 말씀에
‘Advancing Science for Life’라는 회사의 모토를 다시 한번 되새길 수 있던 기회가 되었습니다.
Spyglass DS 국내 런칭
지난 2월 18일, 일반적인 내시경을 이용한 소화기관의 검사와는 달리, 직접 눈으로 질병 상태를 볼 수 없어 X-Ray 화면을 보며 시술을 해야하는 담, 췌관 관련 질병의 치료방법을 획기적으로 전환시킨 ‘Spyglass DS’ 제품의 성공적인 설치와 시술이 서울아산병원, 순천향부천병원, 삼성서울병원에서 진행되었습니다.
기존의 Spyglss Legacy 와 비교하여 눈에 띄게 향상된 Imaga quality 덕분에 장님이 눈을 뜬 격이라는 표현에 더욱 어울리게 되었습니다.
Reimbursement, sales로의 연계 등 앞으로 넘어야 할 산은 많지만, 이 기회를 발판으로 고객들에게 항상 앞선 기술로 환자의 안전과 치유를 생각하는 보스톤사이언티픽 제품이 한 발짝 다가갈 수 있도록 노력할 것 입니다.
대한소화기내시경학회 제 65회 추계학술대회 부스참가
11월 28일 대한소화기내시경학회 제 65회 추계학술대회가 그랜드힐튼 호텔에서 개최되었습니다.
각종 상하부의 질병 및 신기술에 대한 많은 내용들이 있었고, 특히 보스톤사이언티픽의 담관내시경인 Spyglass와 관련된 발표 등을 통해 앞으로 소개될 Spyglass DS에 대한 관심도 높아졌습니다.
특히, 이번 학회에는 2016년 4월부터 Korea Endo의 Marketing 으로 근무하게 된 Mingdi, Lee가 학회에 참석하여 보스톤사이언티픽 한국 직원 및 교수님들과의 인사를 나눌 수 있었습니다.
Shanghai Lab Training 2015
11월 6일부터 8일까지 3일간 상하이의 Lab center에 방문 및 제품 트레이닝과 Discussion 세션을 가졌습니다.
왜 RX System이 보다 안전하고 뛰어난 기술인지에 대한 열띤 논의가 있었고, 몇몇 교수님들에게는 이번 트레이닝 세션을 통해 경쟁사와의 차별된 다른 접근으로, 보스톤사이언티픽에 대한 이미지를 재고할 수 있는 기회가 되었습니다.
이번 기회를 초석으로, 보다 고객들에게 가까이 다가가 새로운 시술과 제품을 소개하기를 기대합니다.
Product training with new partnering companies
9월 16일부터 17일까지 양일간 앞으로 BostonScientific Endo팀과 함께 비즈니스를 꾸려나갈 파트너사들을 대상으로한 제품 교육 진행되었습니다.
이제는 모두가 같은 목표를 향해 나아가는만큼 BostonScientific 의 제품 및 Winning Sprit을 배우고, 서로 다른 배경에서의 경험또한 공유하는 자리가 되었습니다.
특히, 기존의 '대리점'으로 통하던 명칭을 ‘파트너사’로 바꾸어, 기존의 본사와 대리점간의 ‘협력’의 관계를 넘어 상호 '신뢰'를 바탕으로 한 결혼(marriage)으로 다시 정의하며 파트너쉽을 통한 시너지효과를 극대화 시키기를 도모하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다.
Miyazaki Lab Training 2015
8월 28일부터 30일지 3일간 일본 미야자키에 위치한 BostonScientific의 Lab center 방문 및 트레이닝 세션이 진행되었습니다.
Endo팀에서는 처음 진행하는 Training Course라 Customer들의 Lab cente방문에 대한 기대도 상당히 컸는데요, 시술시간 단축 및 안전성을 높일 수 있는 RX Biliary System 제품 군과 관련 시술에 대한 Discussion 및 동물실험으로 제품에 대한 이해도를 높일 수 있는 시간을 가졌습니다.
특히, 보다 안전한 환자의 Care를 위해 제품을 개발하고, 시술자에게 새로운 BSC 제품에 대한 충분한 이해를 도울 수 있는 자리에 모두들 만족하셨습니다.
May 11st-15th, ISS (Initial Sales School) Korea
5월 11일부터 15일까지 일주일간 Initial Sales School 교육이 진행되었습니다.
전세계 어떤 경쟁사와도 뚜렷하게 구별되는 Boston Scientific의 professional한 sales 방식을 익히기 위해 진행된 이번 교육 Session에는 AP Training Manager인 Paul Khoo의 방문도 도움이 되었습니다.
특히, 이번 교육의 시작은 신입사원 김소아 씨에게 보스톤 사이언티픽 코리아에서의 첫 발을 내딛는 순간이 되었는데요, 앞으로 보다 전문적인 Sales Rep 으로서 행보를 기대해봅니다.
Apr 10th-11st, IC-KPBA 2015 학술대회 전시참가
4월 10일부터 11일까지 양일간 대한췌담도학회 학술대회가 그랜드힐튼 호텔에서 개최되었습니다.
학회 창립 20주년을 맞아 대규모 국제학술대회로 진행된 이번 학회에서 보스톤사이언티픽코리아는 담도 내 질병을 치료하는 ERCP 시술의 시술시간 단축 및 안전성을 높일 수 있는 RX Biliary System 제품 군과 관련한 Hands-on session을 열어 제품에 대한 이해도를 높일 수 있는 시간을 가졌습니다.
기존 방식에 머무르지 않고 항상 새로운 것을 생각하고 발전하는 Boston Scientiific Corporation 의 기업 이념을 국내의 Customers에게 여실히 보여주는 기회가 되었습니다.
Mar 21st-22nd, Airway Vista 2015
만성폐쇄성폐질환(COPD)과 천식 관리에 있어 국내외 호흡기 전문가들의 최신지견을 공유하는 Airway Vista 2015가 지난 3월 21일부터 22일까지 양일간 개최되었습니다.
환자 맞춤치료를 비롯해 총 36개의 호흡기 질환 최신 연구결과가 발표되고 논의된 이번 학회에는 특히, 세계 최초의 천식 치료기구인 보스톤사이언티픽의 ‘Alair™ Bronchialthermoplasty System’의 안전성과 효과를 알리기 위해 Asia Pacific 마케팅의 Ellen Yin이 한국을 방문하여 교수님들과의 discussion을 가짐으로써 천식치료의 시장의 움직임을 확인할 수 있었습니다.
Feb 24th, Guest lecture of Prof. Jeong Suk, Inha Univ. Hospital
지난 2월 24일(화요일), 인하대병원의 정석 교수님께서 식생활이 서구화됨에 따라 콜레스테롤 섭취량이 늘어, 이제는 20~30대 젊은 층에서도 적지 않게 발생하는 “담석” 과 그에 대한 치료법 중에 하나인 EPBD(내시경 유두부 풍선확장술)에 대한 주제로 보스톤사이언티픽 사무실에서 강연을 해주셨습니다.
보스톤사이언티픽의 CRE™ Balloon 을 이용하여 본인이 진행하고 있는 연구들과 다양한 시술방법에 대한 강의를 들으며 제품의 우수성을 다시 한번 확인할 수 있는 자리가 되었습니다.
